Summer is often a time of increased use of alcohol and other substances. During the summer, people tend to put off entering substance use treatment. To encourage people in need to enter group counseling, First Step will not charge a fee for the first group session. This offer is for clients who begin group counseling prior prior to Labor Day. There is never an enrollment fee at First Step. You can enroll and start group counseling at no cost. The fee for the first group will be completely waived, significantly reducing the cost. This included the fees related to deductibles & copays.
We are in network with most health insurance companies that operate in this area. We do all the billing and authorizations. Your insurance will usually pay for in person and online counseling and assessments. Give them a call and ask if you are not sure.
We promise to do everything we can to assist you with receiving the counseling or treatment you need. If paying for treatment is a concern, we will assist with deductibles, co-pays, etc. Our assessments are very affordable. There are no upfront fees preventing you from getting into treatment, both our in-person office visits and our online counseling services.
We will contact your insurance company for authorization and benefits. To save you money, it is sometimes helpful for you to call your insurance to ensure they assist you with paying for treatment.

Self Pay/Cash allows those without insurance to pay cash, or who do not wish to use insurance, for services at a discounted rate if paying the full rate could cause financial hardship. Our self-pay cost is among the lowest in the area. Payment plans may be arranged for post-trial DWI clients on a case-by-case basis.
The State of NC sets the ADETS fee at $160 for NC DWI clients. Fees paid to NC DWI Services assists clients with the cost manuals for NC DWI (508) clients.
